Student Assistant (m/f/d) for GeoAI & Street-Level-Imagery

We are looking for a student assistant (8 h/week) to supporting GeoAI Street-level-Imagery projects starting May 1st, 2026.
The main focus will be the project “AI Logistic Awareness” (AILAS): In humanitarian missions, particularly in regions with few paved roads, access often depends on the condition of unpaved routes. AILAS employs a machine learning model trained on street-level imagery to classify the passability of road segments at a given time.
Your tasks:
- Make use of street-level imagery to support decision-making in humanitarian operations
- Support the development of data pipelines and analytical workflows
- Data preparation, analysis, and visualization
- Interest or background in geoinformatics, geography, machine learning or computer science
- BasicExperience with Python and/or R (e.g. for data wrangling, visualization, or analysis)
- Basic knowledge of GIS tools or spatial data
- Structured and reliable working style, curiosity, and willingness to learn
