Develop and design technical baseline solutions of satellite-based quantum technologies and systems
for studies and technology development projects (phases 0 / A / B)
for implementation projects (phases B / C / D / E)
This translates into daily work with focus on

Trade-offs of technical and programmatic solutions
Coordination of related performance analysis
Interface Definition
Definition of Development Logic
You will lead the engineering team effort and design trade-offs between the involved disciplines such as thermal, structural, mechanical, optical and electrical
Further, you will act as an interface with the customer and lead technical discussions with regard to understanding the customer's requirements, their feasibility and justification that the system baseline meets the customer's requirements
In order to turn ideas into reality, you will be working with an experienced team to:
create and analyse technical specifications of systems and subsystems
ensure proper allocation of budgets and maintain them up to date
develop prototypes and carry out tests to validate the system architecture
conduct feasibility studies and risk analyses, budgets definition
You will participate in or lead proposal creation with focus on quantum technologies and systems, e.g. by defining the technical baseline and/or work logic

Your Qualifications

Master/PhD in physics or mathematics, ideally with a focus on quantum optics / quantum technologies
Strong understanding of quantum technologies and its application for industry, e.g. quantum key distribution, quantum memories, quantum sensing and entanglement as a resource
Several years of experience in system architectures including design and implementation of secure and quantum communication systems, ideally for ground and space
Strong solution oriented, self-managed and pro-active working style
Passion for technology and the motivation to turn ideas into reality
Experience in inspiring and leading small teams in technical roles
Experience in system engineering. Experience in MBSE would be an advantage
Working experience in space industry or space-related projects
