PhD student in cardiovascular research (m/f/d)
LMU Munich is one of Europe’s leading research institutions. Scientists from all over the world encounter excellent conditions for their work - in their own research field and in interdisciplinary networks alike.
The Institute of Cardiovascular Physiology and Pathophysiology, headed by Prof. Christian Wahl-Schott, is part of the Biomedical Center (BMC) of the LMU Faculty of Medicine. The institute is dedicated to cardiovascular research. Our research groups investigate the function of HCN channels in the heart as well as TPC and TRPML channels in the endolysosomal system. Loss or dysfunction of these ion channels is associated with various diseases such as lysosomal storage disorders, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Characterization of ion channel functions using electrophysiological, optical, biochemical, molecular, and cell biological methods
- Analysis and interpretation of experimental data
- Presentation of results
- Contribution to scientific publications
- Participation in teaching activities in Physiology
Your qualifications
- A Master’s degree (or comparable) in pharmacy, biology, biochemistry, medicine or related natural science disciplines
- keen interest in patch-clamp techniques, molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Practical experience in working with cell cultures is desirable. A basic willingness to work experimentally with laboratory animals (preclinical mouse models) is required
- Very good knowledge of English, German is an asset (helpful for teaching)
