Doctoral candidate (m/f/d) on the development of optical clocks
- Enrolment at a partner university (Humboldt-University Berlin, Group for Integrated Quantum Sensors) as a doctoral candidate
- Performing a feasibility study and proof of concept experiments on the Rb clock transition on a breadboard model
- Development of a compact optical clock based on hot Rb vapor, from system design to full characterization
- Close collaboration and exchange with the consortium partners and multiple extended stays at partner institutions
- Attendance of multiple workshops, schools, and meetings at various locations in Europe
- Master’s degree in physics, photonics, electrical engineering, or equivalent
- Strong interest in atomic physics, laser technology, and optical clocks
- Experience in designing optical experiments and handling of optoelectronic equipment is advantageous
- Mobility within Europe
- Fluent in English (B2 or higher preferred)
- Must not have resided in Germany for more than 12 months within the last 3 years before hiring
Being one of 13 institutions of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network (DN), Menlo Systems is looking for a Doctoral candidate (m/f/d) on the development of optical clocks who will join the Doctoral Network as a 3-year doctoral candidate. You will work in an industrial setting on the emerging field of optical clocks. Further, you will benefit from the opportunities in networking and scientific exchange that come with the participation in the MSCA-DN.
The earliest possible entrance date is October 2025.
