Science Manager (m,f,x), for 2 years with 39,83 hours per week, TV-L E13

The Department of Translational and Computational lnfection Research serves as a link between the campus and the university hospitals. We are an active research laboratory that focuses on the interactions between pathogens and their hosts. We use data from both the laboratory and clinics, as weil as computer-based methods, to develop new therapies for infectious diseases. We are an international team of researchers, teachers, and learners. As a newly established department, we promote independent action and offer diverse opportunities for development in the redesign of processes and structures. In this dynamic environment, we are looking for a dedicated Science Manager to support our team and contribute to the further development of our department.

As a Science Manager, you will play a central role in the administration, coordination, and scientific advancement of our research projects. You will support the department head not only in administrative and organizational matters but also in the strategic planning and scientific development of our research initiatives. Your contributions will be pivotal in driving forward our scientific work and achieving our research goals. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to independently manage and contribute to scientific projects, author scientific publications, and present research findings at conferences.

Your tasks:

  • Independent management and execution of scientific projects, including experimental design, data collection, and analysis
  • Authoring and co-authoring scientific publications and presenting research findings at national and international conferences
  • Contributing to the preparation of scientific publications and presentations, disseminating research findings to the scientific community
  • Support in the preparation and management of third-party funding applications and projects, including the development of scientific proposals and research plans
  • Preparation of interim and final reports for funding agencies, with a focus on scientific outcomes and impact
  • Coordination and monitoring of project budgets and financial reports
  • Support of the department head in administrative, organizational, and scientific matters
  • Communication with national and international cooperation partners, fostering scientific collaborations
  • Maintenance and updating of the department’s website and other communication channels
Your profile
  • Successfully completed university degree, preferably in a scientific field
  • Experience in the administration and coordination of research projects, especially in the area of third-party funding (desirable)
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Team-oriented and independent working style
  • Experience in the preparation and editing of scientific publications (desirable)
  • Knowledge in project management and coordination of interdisciplinary teams (desirable)
  • High initiative and problem-solving skills
