GROUP PRICING MANAGER - OCEAN FREIGHT Permanent employee, Full-time · Hamburg, London Your mission

Reporting to: Director of Tendering & Marketing (Corporate Head Office Function)
Location: Preferably Hamburg Head Office or London Office

1. MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The Group Pricing Manager - Ocean Freight will play an important role in putting together competitive commercial proposals for our global project tenders by having access to latest market rates, communicating closely with shipping lines, running an efficient pricing process and helping to improve the access to rates to improve the overall pricing process across our global office network and internal rate management processes, sharing marketing intelligence and data

2. MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Produce competitive commercial proposals for global tenders in line with overall tender concept in collaboration and upon approval of Line Manager who will liaise with Head Office
  • Improve internal pricing processes at Bertling for more competitive rates and swifter responses from the offices
  • Build and maintain relationships with shipping lines/road carriers and local agents
  • Help to develop and implement pricing strategies for our logistics services and potentially internal fixed rates (e.g. on customs clearance) in collaboration with Line Manager who will liaise with Head Office
  • Further enhance the rate management concept at Bertling in collaboration with Line Manager who will liaise with Head Office
  • Come up with effective pricing strategies following market evaluations and taking market risks into account to ensure considerable profit margins
  • Help to identify additional target markets and review customer and market trends
  • Ensure that commercial inquiries are responded to in a timely manner in close collaboration with Global Tendering

3. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Supporting inter-company pricing requirements
  • Understanding the impact of pricing on profit margins
  • Understanding contract negotiations and bids as well as proposal development
  • Good Excel skills to maintain the often-complex rate sheets on time
  • Ensuring that our tenders and offers are in line with client expectations à participate in tender follow up process with Global Tendering
  • innovate in terms of rate sourcing
  • gather and distribute market intelligence
  • work closely with global offices to develop intelligence and share throughout the group and foster collaboration
  • act a supportive function for the offices
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
  • Several years of professional experience, preferably in the field of marketing, sales, tendering or pricing for the Logistics/Transport Sector
  • Solid understanding of the operational processes within the transportation industry
  • Responsible, self-driven and reliable personality
  • Analytical, structured, accurate and efficient working style
  • Communicative team player with a global mindset and a hands-on work approach
  • Strong knowledge of database management software, Microsoft Excel and others
  • Proficient in English (business level), also Spanish would a be benefit
